Alberta Education recently released changes to the Guide to Education that will apply in the new school year. The changes also apply to charter schools but not private schools.
The changes are required because Section 11.1 of the Alberta Human Rights Act comes into force Sept. 1.

Inspiring Education, a report outlining high-level direction and a vision for education over the next 20 years, was released by the 22-member Steering Committee of Inspiring Education: A Dialogue with Albertans. Approximately 4,000 Albertans participated in this unique public engagement project last year through facilitated community sessions, a conversation kit, a provincial forum and various social media tools.

I think we can all remember how excited we would get in kindergarten when it was our day to bring our parents to school. Not only did we get to show off to our mom and dad at the water station, but everyone else in our class got to hang out with our super-cool parents. It was kind of that way through all my early years in school.
